Shirazi Investments (Pvt) Limited, the parent company of the Atlas Group, started operations in 1962. It is engaged in capital market, fund management, under-writing, real estate, warehousing and venture capital investments to name a few of the operations. SIL took on the key role in sponsoring the acquisition of many Group companies. Until 1978 when management agencies were abolished in Pakistan, Shirazi Investments also acted as Managing Agents for all Atlas Group companies.

Atlas Autos Limited, now Atlas Honda Limited, was the first company that was sponsored by Shirazi Investments in 1963. Subsequently, Atlas Battery Limited was sponsored in 1966 and Shirazi Trading Company (Pvt) Limited in 1973. Shirazi Investments also played its role in the acquisition of Muslim Insurance Company Limited in 1980 and Allwin Engineering Industries Limited in 1981 among other ventures.

Shirazi Investments has sponsored ventures in the financial sector: Atlas Lease Limited in collaboration with The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi Limited, National Investment Trust and the Atlas Group in 1989 and Atlas Investment Bank Limited in collaboration with, Asian Development Bank, The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi Limited and the Atlas Group in 1990. Atlas Lease Limited merged with Atlas Investment Bank Limited in 2001 and Shirazi Investments took over the shares of the joint venture partners after the merger. In 1992, Shirazi Investments sponsored Honda Atlas Cars (Pakistan) Ltd. in coordination with Honda Motor Co. to produce Honda Cars. The association was further strengthened by the establishment of Honda Atlas Power Product (Private) Limited in 1997.

Shirazi Investments entered into another joint venture in 1997 with Total Raffinage Distribution, one of the world's major refiners marketing petroleum products and established Total Atlas Lubricants Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd.

In 2002, Shirazi Investments (Pvt) Ltd. has sponsored an Asset Management Company - Atlas Asset Management Company Limited - which has been allowed to float close-end and open-end funds among others.

Atlas Warehousing (Pvt) Ltd. - an Atlas Group Company incorporated in 1979, was merged with Shirazi Investments in 2001. The Company now owns and manages godowns in S.I.T.E. area in Karachi, and offers warehouse facilities to the Group companies as well as other clients. In keeping with the Atlas philosophy, the godowns are of the highest quality, professionally maintained and provide extensive facilities.

Besides its important roles as holder of Atlas Group Company shares and holder of directorships in several Atlas Group companies, Shirazi Investments is, as such, also advise, guide and direct the Group policies as representative of the principal Shareholders.
